This trip was an adventure of a lifetime. At We Day in Toronto, one of our students won a trip for her and six others to visit a Free the Children village in Kenya. While in Kenya, we spent a lot of time learning about the organization’s Build a Village model. We stayed in the village of Pimbiniet in the Maasai Mara region of the country. We visited many sites daily and had a lot of time to reflect on our experiences. We spent some time in the village helping to build a new kitchen for their school. We also spent a full day on Safari in the Lemek Conservatory. Rarely a day goes by that I don’t think about some aspect of this trip and how it has helped to shape my understanding of the world and our place in it.
